Thanks to Scientists Who Took the Risk of Losing Their Lives to Fight against Flu

As I read, The World Health Organization issued a stern warning on Friday (December 30, 2011) to scientists who have created a highly lethal form of H5N1 bird flu virus – can easily be transmitted among people.

I do agree to take all measurements to tightly control the new virus due to its disastrous consequence if the virus were spreading in the population. For sure, the viruses must not be fallen into the hands of these terrorists.

However, the courageousness of these scientists in taking the risk of causing their own life to benefit humankind is very much appreciated. Without a research tool (the newly created virus), we cannot develop any drug or vaccine to protect the world population if the deadly H5N1 flu virus is generated naturally. It is commonly known that the H5N1 bird flu virus can be generated through natural mutations, which can pass easily from person to person.

Medical research must be supported. Without these brave scientists to provide the research tools, how the society to develop the methods ( fighting tools) to protect us?
