1. Knoxville, Tenn. Overall score: 100
This eastern Tennessee city is chock-full of pollen, and earned a perfect score of 100. Residents are likely to be on allergy medications, like antihistamines, corticosteroids, and non-steroidal medications.

2. McAllen, Texas Overall score: 96.71
The allergy outlook is bleak for McAllen, which jumped from 9th to 2nd place in this year’s standings. The city is often hot and humid during springtime, which can boost pollen levels.

3. Louisville, Ky. Overall score: 93.31
Louisville lies in the bluegrass region of the state, and grasses are a primary source of pollen. Last year, the city placed 2nd.

4. Jackson, Miss. Overall score: 92.85
Home to forests, prairies, and croplands, Jackson residents are bound to be on allergy medications.

5. Wichita, Kan. Overall score: 91.36
Allergy sufferers beware: Strong winds blow pollen across the plains. After ranking 13th last year, Wichita landed back in the top 10.

6. Oklahoma City, Okla. Overall score: 90.57
Pollen levels are typically worst in Sunbelt states, and Oklahoma City is not immune.

7. Chattanooga, Tenn. Overall score: 89.63
The situation in this Southern city, surrounded by the Smoky Mountains and Tennessee River, is improving: Chattanooga ranked 5th last year.

8. Memphis, Tenn. Overall score: 85.19
The city’s oak trees produce thousands of pollen particles, landing Memphis in the top 10.

9. San Antonio, Texas Overall score: 84.41
Last year, San Antonio placed 42nd—a markedly different story than this year’s 9th place. Blame a bad pollen score and high usage of allergy medicines by residents.

10. Dayton, Ohio Overall score: 82.15
Dayton is making progress: It came in 7th last year. Still, it has a higher-than-average pollen count, and if you meet a Daytonian, there’s a good chance he’ll be on allergy meds.

The residents in these cities should use NasalCare to perform a daily nasal irrigation to reduce allergy suffering.
