Common cold Virus causes Infection
Adenovirus infections most commonly cause diseases of the respiratory system; however, depending on the infecting viral serotype, they may also cause various other illnesses, such as gastroenteritis, conjunctivitis, cystitis, and rashes.

Symptoms of adenovirus infection range from the common cold syndrome to pneumonia, croup, and bronchitis. Patients with compromised immune systems are especially prone to severe complications of adenovirus infection.

Acute respiratory disease (ARD), first recognized among military recruits during World War II, can be caused by adenovirus infections during conditions of crowding and stress.

After you know that these important viruses are the common root causes of the common cold, you may not need to spend a lot of time learning about the other cold viruses. As the basic infection and inflammation occur in the nasal cavity, you know your nasal cavity should be the central focus of attention, as it is the place for the viral infection and the inflammatory reaction from the body’s immune system.
