Calcium: Helps to maintain strong bones and teeth. Main sources include milk, cheese, yogurt, and sardines. As a senior male, you need 1,000 milligrams (mg) of calcium daily. As a senior female, you need 1,200 milligrams (mg) of calcium daily.
Iron: Helps red blood cells deliver oxygen to your body and brain. Sources include lean red meat, dried beans, peas, and iron-fortified cereals. As a senior male or female, you need 8 mg of iron daily.
Vitamin A (as retinol): You need this vitamin for healthy skin, eyesight, and bone growth. Carrots, dark, leafy greens, and sweet potatoes are good sources. As a senior male, you need 900 micrograms of retinol daily. As a senior female, you need 700 micrograms of retinol daily.
